Schibsted, a major player in the Nordic marketplaces sector, has appointed Christian Printzell Halvorsen as its new CEO. Halvorsen will assume his new role following the completion of Schibsted’s divestment of its news media operations to the Tinius Trust, which is expected around June 7. The appointment marks a transformation for Schibsted, shifting towards a more focused marketplace company. The company’s board has endorsed Halvorsen’s strategic vision and leadership skills to navigate this transition, emphasizing verticalization and cost-effectiveness. Halvorsen, who holds extensive experience in marketplace operations, will prioritize transforming Schibsted into an efficient entity operating in four core verticals—mobility, jobs, real estate, and re-commerce. The move follows the resignation of former CEO Kristin Skogen Lund, and Halvorsen was seen as a leading candidate to succeed her.
