Infracapital, the infrastructure equity investment arm of M&G Plc, has finalized the sale of its entire stake in Concessioni Investimenti Infrastrutturali (C2i) to Holding di Investimento in Sanità ed Infrastrutture (HISI). C2i, which operates various Public-Private Partnership (PPP) healthcare assets in Northern Italy, was originally acquired by Infracapital in 2016. The portfolio includes facilities providing essential services and energy to hospitals in Vimercate, North Milan, and Empoli, west of Florence, as well as Careggi University Hospital near Florence. Under Infracapital’s management, C2i completed critical projects, including the construction and commissioning of Empoli Hospital on time and within budget while managing a total of 2,816 beds across its facilities. Despite the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic, C2i played a vital role in the Italian healthcare system’s response. Infracapital’s investment was made through its Greenfield Partners I fund, aimed at developing essential infrastructure to support long-term growth in Europe. HISI, a key player in the healthcare PPP sector in Italy, aims to further strengthen its presence with this acquisition.
