Hitachi Rail has completed its €1.66 billion acquisition of Thales’ Ground Transportation Systems (GTS), a strategic move that expands its global footprint to 51 countries and aligns with its goal to surpass annual revenues of 1 trillion yen. The acquisition propels Hitachi Rail to the forefront of the global mobility sector, significantly increasing its engineering capabilities and enhancing its digital product offerings. This aligns with Hitachi Group’s broader strategy centered on digitalization and sustainable growth. The deal also sees 9,000 new employees joining Hitachi Rail, bringing the total workforce to 24,000 and enhancing the company’s reputation in key markets such as Europe, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific.
