Wolf Eyewear, a family-run designer of bold and colourful glasses, has acquired White Optics, an economy eyewear brand, to become one of the UK’s leading independent eyewear suppliers. The acquisition, supported by debt funding from Frontier Development Capital (FDC), aims to offer a wide range of price points to independent opticians. Founded in 2009 by Ian Wolfenden, Wolf Eyewear employs 26 staff and sells its products in the UK and globally. White Optics, established in 1976 and employing 20 staff, specializes in value eyewear. The acquisition follows the death of White Optics’ founder’s son and paves the way for the eventual retirement of its shareholders. Wolf Eyewear CEO, Tom Wolfenden, expressed satisfaction with the cultural fit and growth prospects. The debt package will also support further international expansion.
