Warner Music Group (WMG) has appointed Michael Ryan-Southern to the newly created role of Executive Vice President of Corporate Development, effective August 5. With over two decades of experience in investment, finance, and the music industry, Ryan-Southern joins from Goldman Sachs where he was the Global Head of Music & Live Entertainment Investment Banking. Reporting to WMG CEO Robert Kyncl, Ryan-Southern will lead M&A activities, identifying and acquiring companies and catalogues. Kyncl emphasized the growth opportunities in recorded music and music publishing and is confident that Ryan-Southern’s expertise will drive WMG’s continued expansion. Ryan-Southern expressed enthusiasm about joining WMG, noting the company’s conducive environment for artistic and business innovations. He brings substantial experience, having been involved in major deals at Goldman Sachs and holding senior roles at EMI Music Publishing and Hakkasan Group.
