James Bracken has been appointed Chief Financial Officer of Zurich North America, succeeding Peter Hirs, who is transitioning to the role of Head of Mergers & Acquisitions at Zurich Insurance Group. Both changes are effective July 1. Bracken brings over 25 years of experience in the financial services sector, having previously served as CEO of Fortitude Re and CFO of AIG General Insurance. During his tenure, Bracken built a Bermuda-based runoff reinsurance company with $75 billion in assets and led several M&A transactions. At Zurich North America, Bracken will oversee the Actuarial, Financial Accounting and Reporting, Corporate Tax, Treasury, Planning and Performance Management, and Finance Operations. He will report to CEO Kristof Terryn and sit on several leadership committees. Hirs, who has been with Zurich in various senior roles since 2005, will now return to Zurich Group, reporting to Group CFO Claudia Cordioli.
