Mixergy, in collaboration with British Gas, has launched its first exclusive offer for customers using Mixergy smart hot-water tanks. Under this initiative, Mixergy customers signing up for a British Gas fixed-rate tariff and opting into Mixergy Extra will receive a £40 rebate on their energy bills. The scheme is aimed at easing grid congestion by heating water when electrical demand is low, aligning with national targets to increase renewable energy usage. Pete Armstrong, CEO of Mixergy, emphasized the potential of smart hot water tanks to function like batteries, optimizing power use and promoting renewable integration. John Evans, Commercial Director at British Gas, noted that the Mixergy system consumes 40% less energy than traditional tanks and aims at decarbonizing homes by adopting this new technology. The offer is set to be available from September 2024.
