Foresight Group, a prominent regional private equity investment manager, has led a £2.2 million growth capital investment into Cavero Quantum Ltd, a cybersecurity startup originating from the University of Leeds. This investment aims to commercialize Cavero Quantum’s innovative passwordless encryption technology, which promises enhanced security measures through dual authentication and compatibility with legacy hardware. The funding was co-invested by Northern Gritstone, an independent investment company supported by the Universities of Leeds, Manchester, and Sheffield. The technology is poised to disrupt the authentication market, projected to be worth £17 billion by 2027. Cavero Quantum, led by seasoned professionals including CEO James Trenholme and CTO Dr. Frey Wilson, will leverage this capital to launch its groundbreaking product. The investment underscores the urgent demand for advanced security solutions as current cryptographic methods are increasingly threatened by quantum computing advances. Additionally, the advisers in this deal included RW Blears LLP for Foresight Group and Mills and Reeve for Cavero Quantum.
