Abu Dhabi Ports Group has reportedly submitted an initial bid for a tender floated by India’s V O Chidambaranar Port Authority, aiming to invest $845 million in building a 4 million TEU capacity container terminal. Located in Tamil Nadu, this project has also attracted bids from other entities like Vedanta Ltd. However, sources indicate that Abu Dhabi Ports faces significant security concerns due to its operations in Pakistan’s Karachi Port and its business ties with China’s Cosco Shipping, which may hinder its chances of securing the contract. This approach underscores India’s cautious stance towards port investments involving Chinese affiliations despite having no formal bans.
