PreActiv, a pioneering platform aimed at reducing surgical complications through personalized prehabilitation programs, has successfully raised £500k in a pre-seed investment round. Founded by NHS employees Dr. Alec Snow and Dr. Rebecca Allam in 2020, PreActiv focuses on optimizing patients’ cardiovascular fitness, strength, nutrition, lifestyle, and psychological readiness before surgery. This £500k funding round was led by Exceptional Ventures with participation from Bethnal Green Ventures, Angel Academe, and various angel investors. The investment will support the company’s expansion and development efforts. As NHS England’s perioperative mandate will require integration of prehabilitation by April 2024, PreActiv’s founders believe their cost-effective digital approach can significantly mitigate the financial burden on healthcare providers and improve patient outcomes. Preliminary data indicate a 25.9% improvement in fitness within six weeks and 99.6% adherence to prescribed sessions. The platform is also in its final clinical trial phase in collaboration with Bath University and Royal United Hospitals Bath.
