Index Ventures, a prominent investor with stakes in companies like Revolut and Multiverse, has successfully raised £1.8bn across two new funds aimed at early and growth-stage startups. With headquarters in London and San Francisco, Index Ventures plans to channel a significant portion of this capital into UK startups. The latest fundraising includes an $800m venture fund and a $1.5bn growth fund, bringing the firm’s total capital raised since its inception to $15bn. The firm has flagged AI as a critical area for future investments, envisioning its potential to revolutionize various sectors of the economy. Labour peer and Growth Minister Lord Livermore has endorsed the firm’s commitment to the UK economy, highlighting its potential for job creation and technological advancements. Index Ventures partner Hannah Seal also contributed to a Startup Coalition manifesto, advocating for policies like streamlined visas for skilled workers and greater tax incentives for R&D.
