Veteran game entrepreneur James Gwertzman has been appointed as the CEO of Mudstack, a Seattle-based startup specializing in asset management tools for the gaming industry. The company has successfully raised $4 million in a funding round led by Anthos Capital, with participation from Khosla Ventures, A16Z GAMES, Pioneer Square Labs, and Hyperplane. Mudstack aims to streamline production workflows for game developers, helping them manage and collaborate on game assets more efficiently. With new funding, the company plans to further develop its platform, expand its team, and grow its customer base. Gwertzman brings a wealth of experience, having previously sold Playfab to Microsoft and served as a partner at Andreessen Horowitz. The startup has already signed its first two significant enterprise customers, Metacore and Paradox Studios, marking a considerable milestone in its growth.
