Trinity Exploration and Production, a UK-based oil and gas firm with assets in Trinidad and Tobago, has moved closer to its merger with Trinidad’s Lease Operators. Key conditions were met when Heritage Petroleum Company consented to the acquisition without exercising pre-emptive rights and the Trinidad Minister of Energy and Energy Industries confirmed his non-requirement for the merger’s approval. The remaining conditions include approvals from the Trinidad and Tobago Fair Trading Commission, Trinity shareholders, and court sanctions. Initially, Trinity was poised to be acquired by Canada’s Touchstone Exploration before Lease Operators presented a more favorable proposition, leading to the current merger proceedings.
