In a significant development for the Indian fertiliser sector, Mangalore Chemicals & Fertilisers (MCF) is set to merge with Paradeep Phosphates, creating one of India’s largest integrated private sector fertiliser companies. Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co (SAM) represented both MCF and Paradeep Phosphates, as well as Zuari Maroc Phosphates in its acquisition of MCF shares. SAM’s transaction team was led by Executive Chairman Shardul Shroff. On the other side, AZB & Partners advised a promoter group member of Paradeep Phosphates. The comprehensive merger is set to leverage Paradeep’s strength in phosphatic fertilisers, with a capacity of 3 million metric tonnes, and MCF’s established presence as Karnataka’s largest chemical fertiliser manufacturer. Combined, the brands serve over 8 million farmers across 16 states in India.
