Skarper, an innovative startup that turns regular bicycles into e-bikes, has raised £4.5 million in a recent funding round. Endorsed and developed with the help of Olympic cycling champion Sir Chris Hoy and the advanced technologies division of F1 team Oracle Red Bull Racing, Skarper’s unique portable drive system attaches to the bicycle via the disc brake rotor and provides motorised assistance to the rear wheel. This funding round, led by investment firm Adjuvo and joined by the Starry Group, Mobilitech, and Resillion chairman Yaron Kottler, will enable Skarper to meet customer demand, expand its market presence, and launch its products at the end of 2024. Skarper has raised a total of £12.8m to date.
