ESP Logistics Technology, a firm leveraging data analytics to address supply chain problems, announced the acquisition of the smart container technology initiative Container 42 (C42) from the Port of Rotterdam Authority. This move enhances ESP’s leading technology platform by incorporating real-time data insights into container movements, contributing to improved shipping safety, sustainability, and efficiency. ESP, formed via a partnership with Esri and Gannett Fleming, was outlined as focusing on commercializing smart container tech, aiming at the global tally of approximately 65 million shipping containers. This strategic synergy combines ESP’s AI and machine learning expertise with C42’s cutting-edge sensory data capabilities. Previously, C42 was a collaborative creation involving tech and logistics giants such as Cisco, Esri, Intel, IBM, and Axians. ESP has already expanded C42’s consortium with the addition of RSAE and Rebirth Analytics and invites more collaborations. The acquisition aligns with ESP’s mission to provide end-to-end visibility and improved productivity while reducing environmental impacts of global supply chain transportation.
